GULAB JAMUN

Ingredients

For the gulab jamuns:

  • Milk powder – 1 multi cup
  • All purpose flour – ¼ multi cup
  • Oil – 1 tsp
  • Salt – pinch
  • Baking soda – pinch
  • Yogurt – 1-2 tbsp
  • Oil – 500 ml (for deep frying)

For the sugar syrup:

  • Water – 2 multi cups
  • Sugar – 1.5 multi cups
  • Green cardamoms – 3-4 pcs (powdered)
  • Saffron – pinch

Directions

MC-110 Multicooker

Preparing the sugar syrup:

Press the “Menu” button, select the “Soup” program and press the “Start” button. Put sugar, saffron, cardamom and 2 measuring cups of water in the multicooker bowl. Stir well to dissolve the sugar. Filter dissolved sugar syrup and let it boil again to attain one thread consistency in sugar syrup. Press the “Cancel” button.

Preparing the gulab jamuns:

First mix the milk powder, flour and soda in a bowl. Add oil or ghee and 1 tablespoon of yogurt. Mix and keep on adding little of the yogurt if required to get a soft sticky mixture. The dough should not be crumbly or dry. Make smooth small balls from the dough.

Pour oil into the multicooker bowl. Select the “Fry” program and press the “Start” button. Let the bowl heat for 3-5 minutes. Then add the balls and fry them stirring often to get even color.

When they become golden, remove from a slotted spoon and add them to the sugar syrup, let them soak in the sugar syrup for at least 1-2 hours. Gulab jamuns can be served warm or cold.
