FALAFEL

Ingredients

  • Chickpeas or garbanzo beans – 16 oz. can
  • Onion (large) – 1 pc (chopped)
  • Garlic – 2 cloves (chopped)
  • Fresh parsley – 3 tbsp (chopped)
  • Coriander – 1 tsp
  • Cumin – 1 tsp
  • Flour – 2 tbsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • Pepper – to taste
  • Oil – for deep frying

Directions

Combine chickpeas, garlic, onion, coriander, cumin, salt and pepper (to taste) in a medium bowl. Add flour.

Mash chickpeas, ensuring to mix ingredients together. You can also combine ingredients in a food processor. Dough should be a thick paste.

Form the mixture into small balls, about the size of a ping-pong ball. Slightly flatten.

Pour oil into the multicooker bowl. Press the “Menu” button, select the “Fry” program and press the “Start” button. Let the bowl heat for 3-5 minutes. Fry falafels in 2 inches of oil until golden brown (5-10 minutes).

Serve hot.
